Christopher Roberts, a scholar working on (British) colonial legality (faculty webpage link), with a specific interest and experience in Egypt and currently at the Law School of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, has recently launched with colleagues ALHA, the Asian Legal History Association. After their first remarkable online conference in 2021, they are now advertising their CfP for the 2022 conference to be held in Bangkok in hybrid form. Christopher is particularly interested in including in the conversation those working on West Asia, but also those working on the legal history of other Muslim-majority countries on the Asian continent.
Submissions are open, and if you would like to think of a panel to organise together, please feel free to reach out directly to me (gianluca.parolin@aku.edu). Participating in the broader discussions on legal history in Asia might be particularly fruitful, and is a conversation that is not currently happening.
The CfP can be found at: https://www.law.tu.ac.th/academic-seminars/asian-legal-history-conference/
Deadline: 14-Jan-2022
Conference: 23-24-Jul-2022, Thammasat U, Bangkok (hybrid)
